On the other couch a women sits with a young boy looking through a picture book about Babar the Elephant. When I find a magazine and I lean back to start reading it, I can see the women watching me out of the corner of her eye. She moves closer to the child and she leans over and kisses his forehead. I know why she does it and i don't blame her. James Frey
About This Quote

When I was a child, I lived with my mother in the United States. One day, while my mother was away, I stayed home alone while she was working. I decided to sit near the window to watch the birds outside. When an odd woman walked into my room, I turned around to see what she was doing there.

When the woman saw me, she ran over to me and tried to hug me. However, I did not want her to hug me. She looked very suspicious and I didn't trust her at all.

She did not look like a good person at all. As soon as she hugged me, she kissed my forehead and began crying uncontrollably. All of a sudden, an old man came up behind her and put his arms around her shoulders.

After hugging me for a few seconds, he left the room quietly. That old man later told me that the woman had been trying to kiss him all day long but he would not let her because he was afraid that she might be a bad person who wanted to do something bad to him. He said that he could tell right away that she wasn't a nice person because when she hugged me, he could smell an awful smell on her body and clothes that made him feel sick in his stomach and caused him to feel very sad and discouraged in life.

He said that it reminded him of the smell of death and sickness in his childhood home in Africa during the time when his family had just died from eating bad food and drinking dirty water from a village well which led to them all getting sick and dying one after another until they were all gone from this planet Earth except him who is still alive today.
